(PM) – Canadian police arrested a costumed male suspect early Sunday morning after stabbings left two dead and five injured near the national assembly in Quebec City.
Police said earlier an assailant wearing medieval clothing armed with a bladed weapon had left behind “multiple victims” near Quebec’s national assembly.
Police confirmed the arrest was made shortly before 1 a.m. local time, with spokesperson Étienne Doyon telling local media that the suspect is in his mid-20s. He would not confirm if he was known to police.
The suspect was sent to hospital for evaluation, Doyon said.
The victims were also sent to hospital with varying degrees of injuries.
