On December 27th, a U.S. contractor was killed in a rocket attack in Kirkuk, Iraq, by an Iranian-backed militia group. The U.S. responded two days later by targeting the militia group, killing at least 25 people.
On December 31st, pro-Iranian protesters stormed the U.S. embassy in Baghdad. The attack was orchestrated by Iran.
On January 3rd, the U.S. retaliated against the embassy attack by killing Iranian Major General and Commander of the Quds Force Qasem Soleimani in an airstrike.
Since then, Iran has promised revenge. President Trump threatened 52 Iranian targets if Iran retaliates against U.S. assets or troops.
