(PM) – On Saturday, Iran admitted to shooting down Ukranian International flight 752. All 176 people died in the plane crash.
Ukraine International Flight 752 crashed shortly after taking off from Tehran’s international airport on Wednesday morning. Iran originally blamed technical issues. However, on Thursday a video surfaced of a missile hitting the plane, causing Iran to admit to its mistake.
The Iranian Revolutionary Guard Forces stated that the plane was accidentally thought to be a hostile target when it neared a military site near Tehran. The army apologized to the families affected.
On Twitter, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani Stated: “The Islamic Republic of Iran deeply regrets this disastrous mistake. My thoughts and prayers go to all the mourning families. I offer my sincerest condolences.”
