(PM) – An explosion has occurred at the National Monument Park, also known as Monas, in Central Jakarta, Indonesia, on Tuesday morning.
The explosion took place near Indonesia’s presidential palace. President Joko Widodo was not present at the palace during the explosion.
National Police reports that two Indonesian Military personnel were injured in the incident. The victims have been taken to Gatot Subroto Army Hospital.
The explosion was likely caused by a smoke grenade. An investigation into the incident is underway.
When asked if the explosion was an attack, the police chief responded: “We haven’t concluded so, because we’re still investigating.”
