Two Carnival Cruise Line ships collided near the Cozumel, Mexico, port on Friday.
The collision involved the Carnival Legend and the Carnival Glory, and was caught on video by many onlookers. There was only one minor injury reported from a Glory guest as a result of the collision according to the cruise line.
“We are assessing the damage but there are no issues that impact the seaworthiness of either ship. We have advised guests from both ships to enjoy their day ashore in Cozumel,” Carnival said in the statement.
Carnival Glory was on a seven-day Western Caribbean cruise from New Orleans due to return Sunday. The ship is 952 feet long and can hold 2,980 passengers at double capacity. The Carnival Legend is 963 feet long and can hold 2,124 passengers at double capacity.
