(PM) – According to CNN, Former Massachusetts Governor Deval Patrick is telling friends and associates that he has made a decision to run for the Democratic nomination for President. The report states that he will make the decision official by Friday.
Patrick is expected to announce his decision by social media or video on Thursday and will file papers for the New Hampshire primary on Friday, according to CNN.
Deval Patrick served as the United States Assistant Attorney General for the Civil Rights Division under President Bill Clinton. He was the Governor of Massachusetts from 2007-2015. He now works as a managing director at Bain Capital.
Patrick originally ruled out a possible campaign in December 2018. He now is expected to enter the race with a difficult path forward, as filing dates passed for Arkansas and Alabama.
