(PM) – San Diego Padres’ pitcher Jacob Nix was arrested after breaking into a home in Phoenix, Arizona, through a doggie door, according to KTLA. Nix was shot with a taser by the homeowner before being arrested by the police.
Nix is facing two counts of criminal trespassing and was released from Maricopa County jail on a $100 bond.
The complaint states Nix attempted to crawl through the doggie door around 4 AM before the homeowner kicked Nix in the face and tased him. Thomas Cosgrove, a minor league pitcher for the Padres, was at the scene and tried to pull Nix away.
Nix was under the influence of alcohol or drugs during the incident. His court date is October 16th. The Padres said in a statement that they are aware of the incident.
Nix posted a 2-5 record with a 7.02 earned run average for the Padres in 2018. In 2019, he played for multiple minor league teams under the organization.
