(PM) – Penn State officials have announced that the Alpha Delta chapter of Chi Phi has been suspended and lost all privileges following the death of a 17-year-old boy in an off-campus house.
The boy was found on Saturday night in a house occupied by Chi Phi members, according to CBS Philly. The male was identified as John “Jack Shoenig and was not a student at Penn State. He showed no signs of trauma.
Multiple people were at the scene when he became unconscious, according to Centre Daily. An autopsy was conducted on Monday and the results are expected in about six weeks.
The fraternity has lost all privileges to participate, attend, or organize any functions, activities, or events pending the investigation’s outcome.
In February 2017, Timothy Piazza of Penn State died from injuries in the Beta Theta Pi fraternity during a party. Piazza drank 18 drinks in the span of less than an hour and a half.
