(PM)- Rapper Nicki Minaj announced on Twitter that she is retiring from her music business and is deciding to focus on family.
In the statement, she stated: “I’ve decided to retire and have my family. I know you guys are happy now. To my fans, keep reppin me, do it til da death of me, in the box- cuz ain’t nobody checkin me. Love you for LIFE.”
Nicki Minaj is known as the first female rapper to sell 100 million units across her albums, singles, and features. She earned a Guinness world record in 2017 for most Billboard Hot 100 entries by a female artist, was nominated for 10 Grammys, and earned 11 BET Awards.
Earlier in 2019, Minaj faced controversy after a video resurfaced of her claiming that she drugged and robbed men.
It is unclear if she is just planning to take a hiatus or retire permanently from her music career.
