WASHINGTON (PM) — US national security adviser John Bolton has resigned from his position in the White House, according to a set of tweets from President Donald Trump Tuesday morning.
Trump stated he would designate a replacement next week, as the latest change in his administration played out.
Bolton, a former ambassador and political commentator who came on board in April 2018, was Trump’s third national security adviser.
Trump’s sternly worded tweet made apparent that the long-simmering frustration with Bolton had boiled over. Bolton promptly took issue with Trump’s declaration that he was fired, stating that he had offered his resignation.
