2020 Kirby Cougars Defensive End Corbet Trevone Mims wants to go out a winner with the Kirby Cougars and come in ready to work with the Arkansas State Red Wolves.
Mims committed to the Arkansas State Red Wolves July 8 via Twitter and chose the Red Wolves over Arkansas, Ole Miss, Tennessee, Oregon and more. As of now, he is one of five defensive players in Arkansas State’s 2020 class. This class is ranked fifth in the Sun Belt Conference. The 2019 class was ranked third.
He will be joining an Arkansas State team in 2020 that went 8-5 (5-3 Sun Belt) last season. They had key wins against Southeast Missouri State, Tulsa, Louisiana Monroe, Coastal Carolina, and Texas State.
“The coaches personality was what sold me and the team made me feel like I’m their little brother,” Mims said.
Looking on the process from the beginning to where he is now, Corbet Trevone Mims said that he was able to receive all the blessings that came his way because he worked so hard.
“I would tell myself to keep my head down and make sure I remember the people that have been texting me like I was already on their team or family.”
He believes he will mesh very well with the Red Wolves defense because he will have a coach that critiques the small things to make him better. He plans to give 110 percent every chance he gets in order to earn a starting spot. Check out his junior highlights.
In the present, the Kirby Cougars are 2-0 after shutting out the Hillcrest Vikings and Bolivar Central Tigers by a combined 79 points. Friday, September 6, the Cougars play their first conference game at home against the Brighton Cardinals. The first of three Touchdowns Against Cancer games.
