UPDATE: Police in Missouri identified the armed suspect that entered a Springfield Walmart on Thursday as 20-year-old Dmitriy Nickolayvich Andreychenko, who was stopped at gunpoint by an off-duty firefighter before being taken into custody by police.
A purported post on Facebook from Dmitriy’s account seems striking considering yesterday’s developments.
Andreychenko looks to be from Portland, Oregon, married and his wife Angelica states she is expecting ‘Baby Chenko’ in January 2020. Her profile states she has been married to the suspect since May 2016.
In June, Andreychenko announced: ‘This hunting duo is becoming [sic] an hunting trio!’
He shared posts of an anti-gun control, anti-Planned Parenthood, and anti-immigration stance.
On an Instagram account for Andreychenko, who attends Connect Church in Springfield, he states: ‘Love my God, Love my wife, Love my guns’ and shows him practicing firing.
He quotes the Holy Bible’s Romans 1:16 on his Instagram profile bio. The passage reads: ‘For I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes: first to the Jew, then to the Gentile.’ The Instagram profile, at the time of publishing, is taken down.
He studied EMS/EMT at Ozarks Technical Community College.
MISSOURI (PM) – The Springfield Police Department tweeted out Thursday that a well-armed man was detained at the Walmart Neighborhood Market on W. Republic Road.
His intent was not to cause peace or comfort to anybody that was in the business. In fact, he’s lucky to be alive to be honest.”LT. MIKE LUCAS, SPRINGFIELD POLICE DEPARTMENT
Later, Lt. Mike Lucas with Springfield Police verified it was a white man in his 20s, outfitted with a rifle that was taken into custody.
Lucas said Thursday evening that no bullets were fired and nobody was injured. However, the man is still in custody.
According to Lt. Lucas, an off duty fireman who was at the Walmart is to thank in some part for the young man’s arrest, having detained the suspect at gunpoint until police arrived.
For now, investigators will examine both the Walmart security footage and the armed 20-year-old’s social media profiles.
