Update at 11:18 PM: All lanes on the George Washing Bridge have been reopened.
(PM) – The upper level of the George Washington Bridge, which connects Manhattan to New Jersey, is closed due to police activity.
According to the NYPD, police activity is due to a bomb threat.
The Port Authority Police Department is handling the investigation. A spokeswoman conflicted the NYPD report stating that the shutdown is due to a ‘suspicious package’.
The Bergen County Bomb Squad is responding to the incident.
The lower level of the bridge is still open at this time.
