The US House of Representatives will vote on a resolution denouncing President Donald Trump’s condemnations on four Democratic congresswomen of color.
Trump on Sunday told the four congresswomen of color to “go back” to their home countries, even though three were born in the United States and all are US citizens.
The tweets were referencing Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez of New York, Ilhan Omar of Minnesota, Ayanna Pressley of Massachusetts and Rashida Tlaib of Michigan.
Notwithstanding facing repercussion from rights groups, politicians and others, Trump not only doubled down on his tweets but recommended the women apologize to him for their preceding statements about Israel and himself.
He later declared at the White House, “If you hate our country .. you can leave,” continuing that he doesn’t think his comments were racist.
The resolution is sponsored by Democrat Tom Malinowski, who was born in Poland and is accompanied by other Representatives born outside the US.
