(PM) – One person was shot outside of the Young Israel of North Miami on Sunday afternoon. The synagogue is located at 10th Avenue and 171st street. According to Local10, an ABC affiliate in Miami, the shooting is being investigated as a possible hate crime.
The shooting occurred at around 7 P.M. local time. According to Yeshiva World News, the victim was in his 60’s and suffered multiple gunshot wounds in his leg. The report states that this was a drive-by shooting and the suspect is on the loose. The victim is in stable condition and is being treated at Aventura Medical Center.
According to Law enforcement officials, the victim was sitting outside on a bench at the time of the shooting waiting afternoon prayers to start. At least six shots were fired.
