On Thursday night, the Toronto Raptors shocked most of the sports world with their 118-109 Game 1 win over the favored Warriors, even without Kevin Durant. With Durant still not expected back until game 3 or 4, the Raptors will try to win as many games as they can before his return.
While Toronto should be confident heading into game 2, they shouldn’t let game 1 get to their heads. Pascal Siakam dominated in game 1, having his best performance of the playoffs thus far. Marc Gasol also arguably had his best game of this year’s playoffs. It’s hard to expect the same type of numbers posted in game 1.
On the opposing side, Golden State should be concerned, but there is no need to panic after 1 game. Going down 2-0 would be a different story. Steph Curry was the only Golden State player to really have a standout performance. Klay Thompson played average, while Andre Iguodala and Draymond Green didn’t meet expectations.
As poorly as the Warriors played, Golden State only lost by 9 on the road after a long layoff. It’s hard to imagine the Warriors playing average, and their bench being non-existent two games in a row.

Game 2 Prediction
It’s hard to imagine the Warriors bench playing as poorly as they did in game 1 after only providing 36 points (6 Players). While Leonard and Siakam can both have good games, don’t count on Toronto’s role players to continue to wildly exceed expectations 2 games in a row.
Toronto has a huge home court advantage, probably the best in the NBA. They have a whole country behind them; and Drake. That being said, the Warriors are battle-tested, with this being their 5th consecutive Finals appearance. Draymond Green is due for a much better game while the splash brothers may very well both drop 30+ as the Warriors take game 2 of the NBA Finals.
- Warriors – 116
- Raptors – 103
