According to ESPN insider Adrian Wojnarowski, Kemba Walker plans to be in Boston on Sunday afternoon to finalize a 4 year/ $141 million contract with the Celtics. Free Agency negotiating window officially opens at 6 pm on Sunday night.
The former Charlotte Hornet has spent his entire eight year career with the club. Both sides have been open about a reunion, but talks broke down after the two sides were far apart on a deal. Walker great leadership, and a winning attitude, while also being a fluid scorer and passer. While his offense is not on par with Kyrie Irving, there will be no doubt that the turmoil should be over in Boston.
The 2019 season showed a change was needed. With Kyrie Irving out of the picture, Kemba keeps the Celtics in the playoff hunt. The team now needs to find a replacement for center Al Horford, whose leadership on and off the court, along with his play making abilities will be deeply missed.
The team made some moves on draft night to clear around $34 million in space for Kemba. The team should have roughly $2 million plus an exception to fill out its roster.
