(PM) – At least three people are injured after a gunman opened fire at a Costco in Corona, California. The shooting happened just after 8 PM local time. According to Jeff Vaughn of CBS, Riverside Police said that the shooter may be ‘down’.
UPDATE: Investigators have informed Reporter Joy Benedict that the man who opened fire is an off duty LAPD officer and shot and killed a man during the altercation and 2 others sustained non-critical injuries, per her Twitter.
At 9:09 PM local time, Corona police said that the situation has been stabilized and there is no further threat.
According to Chris Cristi of ABC, multiple people have been shot at a Costco in Corona, California. KCAL9 reports that one person has died following the shooting.
Witnesses said the shooting began as a fight and seven or eight gunshots were heard. CBS reports that the argument was between a man and a family.
A witness told CBS Los Angeles that ‘a couple of people were hit’ in the deli section of the warehouse. He further stated that the gunman escaped out the door after an off duty officer was accidentally tackled during the incident. The witness also said there was a stampede at the time of the shooting. He said that at least three people were moved out on the stretcher.
