Storm Chaser Michael Moss has been charged with Arson after authorities state he changed his story “multiple times” after a devastating house fire in March 2019.
Michael Moss, 43, was arrested after Law Enforcement officers from the New Whiteland, IN Police and the Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives Bureau (ATF) discovered discrepancies in his story.
A weather group called “Women of Weather” set up a go fund me account for the Moss family which raised over $3000.

According to court documents from March 25, 2019, Police and Fire responded to Moss’ residence in New Whiteland, IN. The home was destroyed. A police investigation was begun and they reported that Moss made multiple false statements to NWPD and the Fire Marshall’s office.
According to the Fire Marshall, a sofa chair in the kitchen was believed to be where the fire originated. Moss first claimed he was moving the chair outside when he heard an electrical sound and then the showing of smoke. Later he stated he dropped a lite cigarette onto the chair which started the flames while he attempted to move it outside. It was late recorded that the back door to the residence was never opened as Moss originally stated.
ATF agents interviewed Moss and stated he “changed his story multiple times” during the meeting. He finally admitted to starting the fire to “get ahead” but did not intend to destroy the entire house.
The investigation later confirmed that Moss submitted a fire damage claim only an hour after the fire.
