News broke nearly three weeks ago that computer networks in Baltimore were under attack. They were subsequently shut down with with reports it was due to a ransomware attack.
Ransomware is a technique used by criminals to take over an individual computer, or network of computers in response for payment.
The City of Baltimore, under such attack, means that many city services are offline, including the payment of bills.
Is it now learned that this attack is likely the result of a leaked NSA hacking tool known as EternalBlue. EternalBlue is the name of a tool used to exploit Microsoft Windows computers.
Questions of whether the disclosure and release of the NSA hacking tool by the Shadow Brokers group are foreign spies or disgruntled employees.
This is a developing story. City disaster relief funds have been requested.
